Darlene Zschech, Revealing Jesus - Review

Darlene Zschech, Revealing Jesus - Review

By Julie Terwilliger on March 19, 2013

“Open our eyes Lord, we want to see you...” is the heart’s cry of the opening worship song “God Is Here” on Darlene Zschech’s latest and long-awaited live worship album Revealing Jesus. The album is produced by Israel Houghton and features co-writes and duets with well-known and loved artists Michael W. Smith, Kari Jobe and Houghton himself.

The album contains a good dose of upbeat praise, including the tune “All That We Are” - complete with a jolly whistling intro!  Looking for a classic worship ballad? Darlene and Houghton deliver the power-filled worship song “Victor’s Crown” - also anticipated to be an Easter resource.

Familiar melodies resound in the excellently arranged covers of “Your Presence is Heaven”, “Jesus Be The Center”, and “Your Name”.

My favorite so far is “My Jesus I love Thee” (sung with Michael W. Smith) - a classic hymn with piano & vocals escalate into a gorgeous chorus of “Lift Jesus higher...”

Oh wait, did I already pick a favorite? “Yours Forever” - written solely by Darlene and featuring Kari Jobe - lucid tones showcasing Jobe’s vocals make this track shine.

The yearning heart of this album is well summed up in Darlene's words:

"His presence beckons me..."

I give this album 4 out of 5 stars!
