Here is My Worship (Live) - Jaye Thomas [Review]

By Barry Westman on September 17, 2014

Jaye Thomas is well-known as a worship leader at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, and Here is My Worship (Live) is his first full-length release with Forerunner Music. It is also the first album from Forerunner Music/IHOPKC in the gospel/worship genre.  Compiled from the live recordings of Onething 2012 and 2013, the songs on this album are a good mix of familiar cover songs like Paul Baloche’s “Praise Adonai”, Tomlin’s “Holy Is the Lord”, and Keith Green’s “O Lord, You’re Beautiful”; and several original songs such as “Treasure”, “Clean”, and “We Make Room.”

The opening invitation to worship by Thomas is the familiar “O Come, Let Us Adore Him” paired with the original song “Come, Holy Spirit”.  Jaye’s rich vocals are quickly made evident on this first medley, and his powerful voice carries through the entire album.

Throughout this gospel/worship album, the vocal group The Cry provides excellent support for Jaye’s vocals, allowing him the flexibility to step out on his own and lead the songs with freedom.

While many of the songs feature this free-flowing, spontaneous worship, for churches that sing in a predominantly gospel style, there are several songs that would work well in a corporate worship setting, including Jaye’s version of some of the well-known songs like “Holy Is the Lord” and “Praise Adonai”.  “Fill Me” is a beautiful prayer to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.  The title track, “Here is My Worship”, is another standout track, and another prayer offering to God.

Overall, the vocal richness in Thomas and the thick vocal harmonies of The Cry make this album an outstanding worship album for personal devotions and corporate worship.
