The Art of Celebration - Rend Collective [Review + Giveaway]
How appropriate that the release date for Irish worship band Rend Collective’s new album was on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th! The Art of Celebration will certainly give many people something to celebrate about. This joy-filled album is also filled with a whole new batch of songs for the church, and it does not disappoint.
There is no better word than “fun” to describe some of the tracks on this album including the opening track “Joy”, which sets the atmosphere for the rest of the album. Other infectiously joyful tunes are “My Lighthouse”, which celebrates God’s Light in the midst of a storm, and “Create in Me” based on Psalm 51. Two other standout tracks that focus more on the victory we have in Christ are “Finally Free” and “More Than Conquerors”, both lilting 6/8 tunes filled with all kinds of interesting instruments and sounds like only Rend Collective can produce.
Rend Collective also branches out stylistically and sonically with “Immeasurably More” and “Strength of My Heart”, two pop-sounding anthems that still maintain their own distinctive sound. Even the slower, stripped-down “Simplicity” is a favorite, focusing on the beautiful harmonies in this project’s Campfire moment. If you’ve enjoyed the earlier albums by this group, you will be sure to want to add this to your collection.
Most of these songs are usable in a corporate worship setting, and the overall theme of joy is certainly one that the Church needs to hear and sing about today.
