"The Same Love" Devotion

By Scott Sidusky on May 12, 2013

Paul Baloche’s “The Same Love” has been inspiring me quite a bit lately. We recently used this song at my church as a response to my pastor’s sermon in which one of his points was that the same God that walked with Adam and Eve in the garden, is the same God that stood with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace, and He is the same God that walks and stands with us today. While my pastor was preaching, I had some thoughts pop into my my head and I wrote the following down as a new way (than I had originally planned) to set up the response song.

My prayer is that this can be an encouragement and a blessing for you today:

He calls us all by name. (Isaiah 43:1-7)

The same God who breathed life into Adam and Eve, is the same God who breathes life into us through the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 2; Acts 2:1-3)

He calls us all by name.

The same God who loved and walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden; the same God who loved and stood with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, is the same God who loves us, walks with us, and stands with us today. (Genesis 3; Daniel 6:19-30)

It is with that same love that He calls us all by name.

Isn't it amazing how the Creator of the universe, the God that holds all things together, creates and sustains life, knows each and every one of us by name?!

He calls us all by name.

It is at the cross where we find mercy, grace and forgiveness, and it is through the Resurrection that we find life!

He calls us all by name to the cross.

It doesn't matter where you are, where you have been. It doesn't matter what you've done.

He calls you by name to the cross.

If you grew up in church and have lived a life of holiness throughout.

He calls you by name to the cross.

Let us go to the cross! Let us find mercy, grace, forgiveness... And let us find life!
