Vicky Beeching "Eternity Invades" Album Review
The much anticipated release “Eternity Invades”, by worship leader Vicky Beeching, was a joy to listen to in every way! As a worship leader, I tend to listen to CDs with this question in mind - “Are there songs here that I can use with my team at our church?” After finishing the CD, I can tell you there are several songs that would be perfect for corporate worship! Worship leaders will find a gold mine of songs to use on this album. I already have several in mind that I’d like to use, including maybe my favorite track of the album, “Emmanuel”, a beautiful song that would be perfect for a service about the cross, or communion (no, not Christmas as I originally thought when I saw the title...)
The album starts out with two exciting upbeat songs, “Salvation Day” and “Blessing and Honor”, both of which are tremendous vertical anthems for the church to sing out in worship, as are most of the tracks on this album. Another track that stood out was “Glory To God Forever”, a song she co-wrote with Steve Fee. We have actually been using Fee’s version in our services for several months, so I was very excited to hear her version of the song. It has more of an acoustic feel to it, which I love, because it shows us just one more way we can use this great song in our services. One of my favorite moments on the whole album is at the end of this song; when we can hear Vicky and the other singers just enter into a true time of worship, giving glory to God. Wow!
There are many more songs that stand out, such as “One Day”, “Breath of God”, “Deliverer” and “Break Our Hearts”, a powerful song that calls us to action against social injustice. But, I also would like to mention how much I appreciate the depth to the lyrics in these songs. Vicky’s love for God and His Word really shines through in these well-crafted songs.
I know this CD is going to stay at the top of my playlist for quite some time, and I know these songs will make their way into churches around the world. Thank you for giving us so many well-written, heart-felt, creative, Biblically sound songs for the church!
