We Won't Stop Singing

Story Behind the Song "Forever Cry Out"

Few have found a way to say it more beautifully than the Psalmist, who in the 150th chapter of the Book of Psalms, issues this call to every living thing:

“Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary.
Praise Him from His mighty heavens!
Praise Him for His mighty works.
Praise His unequaled greatness!
Praise Him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise Him with the lyre and harp!
Praise Him with the tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flutes!
Praise Him with a clash of cymbals.
Let everything that has breath sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord!”

That leaves no room for doubt or questioning our reason for being alive. We exist for one purpose and one purpose only: to worship God. So, why not take a cue from the Psalmist and write a whole song about it?

As a worship leader, it can be a challenge to find a fast, up-tempo, high-energy congregational worship song that actually says something of value or challenges us in some way. That was precisely our reason for writing this song.

The opening verse invites us as God’s children to exchange our weary hearts for His hope and light, and to remind ourselves that we are held together by His strong and mighty hand. The chorus is merely a paraphrase of Psalm 150, a shout of praise to our God for who He is. The second verse reminds us of the truth about God that we so easily forget when beaten down by the day-to-day cares of our lives. And in case we still aren’t convinced by the end of that second chorus, the bridge is there to further inspire us to sing His praise and never, ever stop.

A simple song, but so very necessary for maintaining a proper perspective in life.

Sometimes we must use our minds via our mouths and our songs to remind our hearts how to feel. Life is hard, and we all too easily forget the basic, unchanging truth that God is good. No matter our struggles, trials, worries, setbacks, disappointments or frustrations, our Creator is worthy of our praise. Always.

Therefore, let everything that has breath praise the Lord! And may we never, ever stop singing His praise.
