Your Great Expectation for 2013
The New Year has arrived, and with it, countless resolutions have been declared around the world.
From health and fitness aspirations to educational and career success, many New Year’s resolutions relate to our desire to be in a happier, fulfilled state that we may have been in the past (for example, those “skinnier, leaner” days) or where we hope to be in future (such as a promotion and pay rise at work).
Interestingly, the same concept is applicable in our faith journey, too.
Making a firm resolution about your Christian walk – for instance, to read your Bible in one year or to share about the salvation of Jesus with someone in your world– is like a faith-declaration of great expectation for God to move incredibly in and through your life.
Write it down
Writing down your faith-declaration is equally as important as speaking it. Habakkuk 2:2-3 contains a great instruction from God about writing down revelations, prophecies, declarations and the miracles you’re awaiting:
Then the Lord replied:
“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
Just as a resolution to lose weight would involve a regular exercise regime and eating a healthy balance of foods, seeing a faith-declaration come to pass involves an active pursuit on our behalf. The Bible reminds us that persistence is greatly rewarded in God’s economy (Matt 7:7).
Make it known
King David made it a habit to declare the amazing miracles of God at work in his life via the Psalms, and likewise, we too should become habitual in praising God in our lives. It not only glorifies Him, it also increases our faith and the faith of those listening, when we testify of His amazing works and wonders.
Personally, I’m believing and praying in faith to enter new territory of passion and zeal for God that infiltrates and influences every facet of my world.
What about you? I’d love to hear yours for 2013.Comment on Facebook Comment on Twitter
